Asportek Zinc Tester provides a simple two-teaspoon taste test method for evaluating zinc reserves in your body to determine the need for zinc supplements.
Asportek Zinc Tester provides a simple two-teaspoon taste test method for evaluating zinc reserves in your body.
Researchers, led by Dr. Derrick Bryce-Smith of the University of Reading in England, have discovered that a specially prepared solution of Zinc sulfate, when taken orally, can be used to determine the status of zinc, using the activity of Gustine, a zinc dependent enzyme in saliva.
In their studies (published in The Lancet in 1985) they showed that when administering 10 ml of the zinc sulfate solution, a lack of taste or perception of delayed taste reveals a state of zinc deficiency while an immediate perception of the taste of the solution indicates that the person has a normal zinc intake. Subsequent studies have shown that this test is reliable and reproducible.
The Asportek formula provides the consumer with a simple and inexpensive screening method to determine the need for zinc. By using the Zinc tester to determine one’s zinc requirements and by carrying out a new test after 30 days of supplementation, one can, not only determine their zinc requirements, but also assess if the zinc supplements taken as part of a program are properly absorbed.
Wheat Free, Egg Free, Dairy Product Free, Without Colouring, and Without Artificial Flavour.
Put 10ml of Asportek Zinc Tester in the mouth, keep for about 10 seconds and then swallow. A lack of taste or a delayed taste perception suggests a possible zinc insufficiency. An immediate taste perception suggests zinc status may be adequate.
Depending on taste results, percentages of zinc are revealed.
Per teaspoon (5ml).
