Berberine has the potential to positively impact lipid metabolism. It may reduce levels of triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Additionally, it may increase levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the “good” cholesterol.

The mechanism of action of berberine and its metabolites are able to up-regulate the expression of the LDL receptor in human hepatoma cells.

Usage Instructions

Adult Dosage

Take one capsule, two times a day, with food; or as directed by health care practitioner. Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 3 months. Do not open capsules, as this may compromise the stability of the medicinal ingredients.

Cautions

Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have a kidney disorder, have diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver or kidney disease, gall stones, a blood disorder or leucopenia, hypoglycemia, hypotension, or if you are taking prescription medication as this may alter the effectiveness of these medications. If you experience sweating, paleness, chills, headache, dizziness and / or confusion, discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner. Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant. May cause additional gastrointestinal upsets such as constipation, vomiting and abdominal pain/cramps, in which case discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner. Some people may experience skin irritation, facial flushing and slowed heart rate.
